The Unknown

I think many people can relate to the fact that the unknown feels stink! We like to know what's next. We like to know how situations are going to turn out. And not knowing the end result is a horrible feeling. For many of us, this is the worst part of this crisis. Will it last two months or six? Will I or someone I know catch it? How much will this escalate? It's scary, it's daunting, it's uncomfortable. So I just want to encourage you in this time.

1. Take one day at a time
"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." - Matthew 6:34
This is so relevant right now. Each day literally has its own troubles. Let's focus on getting through each day, staying safe and doing what needs to be done to get through this difficult time. Don't worry  about tomorrow or next week or next month. We really need to take this one day at a time.

2. Trust God
Trust God. I know it's easier said than done. But I really want to encourage you that while our lives have been turned upside down and we've been taken by surprise by all of this, God is not surprised. He knew and knows and sees all and has a greater plan. God is sovereign. For me, this characteristic of God is the most comforting. Knowing that He already knows the end while we are still at the beginning is so assuring. Friends, I don't know what tomorrow holds but I promise you that God holds tomorrow and He is a good, good God. We'll get through this.. one day at a time.

Heavenly Father, increase our faith in this time of uncertainty. Help us to rest in the knowledge that You know all things and all things work together for the good of those who love You and are called according to Your purpose. We cast our cares on You. Calm our fears and take away our anxieties, in Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

  1. Then unknown. It scares some of us, then other times we choose which unknown to have faith in. Accepting the unknown as it relates to God can develop a patience within us since we wouldnt be consumed by trying to know everything right there and then. It also fosters that deeper relationship with our Heavenly Father as we depend on him for guidance and help.
