Give Up the Driver's Seat

It’s 10:30 on a Saturday morning and outside is silent. This is truly a crazy time to be alive! Today is the quietest Saturday I have ever experienced in my three decades of life. I don’t think there is anyone alive right now who knew that this is what life would be like for us now in 2021.

I overhear the funeral of the wife of the Bishop of the Anglican Church playing in the background. My mind goes to the unpredictability of life and the sovereignty of God. As much control as we think we have of our lives, we don’t; God is in control. We can plan as much as we want, but God really does have the final say.

If we’ve learnt nothing else during this time, it should be that God is sovereign. It’s uncomfortable not knowing how to plan or even if to plan, but we have to trust God. This level of faith where we have to place everything in God’s hands is how He wants us to live every day. He wants us to rely on His Holy Spirit daily to guide us in everything we do. He wants us to give every fear and worry over to Him. He wants us to allow Him to take the driver seat of our lives.

So, as you stay in your homes on this tranquil Saturday morning unable to get your usual Saturday pudding and souse or other treat, rest easy knowing that God is sovereign and you are in good hands as long as your life is in His hands.

We’ll get through this together!

Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails. – Proverbs 19:21

  1. Only this morning I was saying COVID came and literally put the world on pause and it could be a representation of God reminding us to to hold fast to him, seek him and remember he is in control of all. This valley is a wake up call and as the name of blog suggests, these times of pause allows us to reflect and refocus.
